ICSI - Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection

ICSI is an additional measure in support of artifical reproductive technology and will be used if the male partners sperm quality is highly reduced, or if IVF has only yielded meagre results.
Under a special microscope an optimal sperm cell is selected, and by use of a special needle directly injected into the oocyte. This then leads to the female eggs fertilisation, with the ensuing developmental stages being identical to IVF treatment.
